The Rural China Education Foundation (RCEF) recently received a grant in the amount of $33,000 from the Tang Family. The grant will help in continuing the mission and development of RCEF by supporting Rural Education Fellows developing innovative curriculum and teaching methods in Shanxi Province.
About 60% of China’s children grow up in the countryside. With the increased prevalence of rural boarding schools and “left-behind children” who are separated from their migrant-worker parents, rural teachers are frequently the most stable adult influences and role models in rural children’s lives. RCEF's Rural Education Fellows work directly with rural children, developing new curriculum and teaching methods that cultivate analytical thinking skills, self-confidence, communication skills and empathy.
RCEF provides the Fellows with:
-
Development of Personal and Professional Goals and Work Plans
-
Individualized Coaching
-
Professional Development Opportunities
-
Networking with like-minded Fellows to share ideas, support and best practices.
RCEF was established in 2005. It is one of the few organizations in China devoted to assessing rural teachers’ holistic needs as educators and reformers. Great thanks go to the Tang Family for this generous grant.
