Curriculum and Teaching Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Advise Executive Director of Programs and project directors on curriculum and teaching in RCEF programs.
  • Design and implement professional development programs for principals, teachers and RCEF staff.
  • Design curriculum for RCEF programs and partner schools.  
  • Consult principals and deans of partner schools regarding school management, professional development and curriculum and teaching in their schools.
  • Create curriculum materials and training guidebooks for dissemination to rural schools throughout rural China.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • A least three years of teaching experience
  • Management experience within or outside of school settings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong spoken Mandarin Chinese communication skills 
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about rural education
  • Adult education or training experience preferred
  • Experience in school leadership or NGO work is a plus

Terms

  • Based in Houjiazhuang Village (Yongji City, Shanxi Province)
  • Long-term, full-time position
  • Salary: RMB 2000 – 4000 commensurate with experience

Director of Program Evaluation

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Director of Programs and consultant to develop systems for monitoring and evaluation for RCEF programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate RCEF programs, including training of program staff, teachers and research volunteers to participate in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Submit quarterly evaluation reports to Board of Directors.
  • Keep a multimedia journal of recent developments, interview records and anecdotes of the Integrative Rural Education Program.
  • Respond to requests for materials by other staff and volunteers.  

Qualifications and Competencies 

  • Excellent written communication skills in either Chinese or English and proficient in spoken Mandarin.
  • Graduate degree in relevant area or at least two years work experience in the field of education.
  • Willing to live in rural project site.  
  • Skills in basic internet usage and Microsoft Office.
  • Expertise in research or program evaluation strongly preferred.
  • NGO working experience preferred.

  • Based in Houjiazhuang Village (Yongji City, Shanxi Province)
  • Long-term, full-time position

Math and Science Teaching Coach

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coach math and science teachers through collaborative lesson planning, class observations, providing feedback, goal setting and follow up
  • Support head teachers: help plan subject meetings, train teachers in meeting failicitation and peer-mentoring
  • Lead presentations or workshops on education and teaching
  • Evaluate and monitor the progress of teachers and students
  • Lead extracurricular and/or remedial activities
  • Keep detailed record of activities and lessons learned through writing, taking photos etc. 

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Previous teaching experience, especially in education reform, educational experimentation or alternative education models
  • Effective at collaborating with and motivating others
  • Background in math, sciences or related field 
  • Strong spoken Mandarin Chinese communication skills
  • Proficient in reading simplified Chinese characters
  • Able to live and work in limited conditions in a rural village
  • Competent in basic internet usage and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in education research, adult education, training or NGO work a plus
