Activities
The project team conducted research on the social, economic, historical and cultural background of the local community. They then wrote a “native soil” book based on the research for use in the classroom. Local educators were highly involved in the writing and revision process to ensure that the book met the needs of local education and was easy for teachers to use. After the curriculum had been thoroughly revised based on experimentation in local classrooms, the book was printed and distributed to local schools. We then organized a summer camp for local students centered on the “native soil” curriculum. In addition, local teachers participated in professional development activities to support them in implementing and improving the curriculum.
